Amanda Y. Hendrix, M.S.
Founder and Principal
As a professional writer and editor since 2014, Amanda has integrated her expertise from a variety of scientific and technical industries to assist clients in a wide variety of needs.
Amanda set up shop to offer writing and editing services as Amanda Y. Hendrix Consulting in January 2016 after her family relocated to the north Denver, CO area. They returned to the Houston, TX area in 2018, and Amanda continues to help individuals, small businesses, and organizations locally and virtually.
After completing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Amanda began her career with ExxonMobil Pipeline Co. as a project engineer. Here, she gained expertise in project management, regulatory compliance, efficient program management, safety, and root cause analysis.
Looking for a change of pace, Amanda entered graduate school and completed a M.S. in Biological Engineering and enjoyed teaching freshman BE students. Her thesis work included analytical biology and chemistry techniques.
She continued her studies by entering the Translational Biology & Molecular Medicine program at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), now rebranded as the Development, Disease Models & Therapeutics program. Amanda completed a M.S. for her work developing a dendritic cell-based immunotherapy targeting lung cancer. Her training included clinical experiences at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, TX.
Amanda's verbal and writing skills gained the attention of several faculty members at BCM, leading to her hire at BioScience Writers, a specialist in presenting scientific ideas and results. She further honed her editing skills for scientific manuscripts in a wide variety of styles according to journal author requirements. In addition, Amanda applied her process efficiency training to implement several cost- and time-saving initiatives to improve workflow and productivity for the small business.
